End of an Era

I really have had such an amazing experience with student teaching. My first seven weeks are over and it doesn't seem fair. As soon as I get a chance to know these kids, I have to leave them. But I am so excited for my next seven weeks in 3rd grade! It will be so much fun. I won't miss the "Miss Buckwee... I didn't make it to da potty" or the "But, I don't wanna" but I will miss "Miss Buckwee, you didn't hug me yet today" and all the laughs I got from them everyday. Wow, it goes by very fast. What am I complaining about? I get to do this every year! Just when I start to tell myself I can't do it anymore, one of the kids comes up to me with a nose that needs a tissue and gives me a gigantic hug... one of those hugs that make you wonder where someone that small got that much strength.

Wedding Time

I decided that it was the perfect time to go looking for wedding dresses. Some mightthink that wedding dress shopping is only for the engaged, however, I go to college and am best friends with Lindsay who lives in Texas... that's far away. So I decided that we should go so she could be apart of my choosing a dress. I found some really hideous dresses and some beautiful ones. The woman who was helping us... Shawnna.... was a huge pain. She would not listen to me. I told her that I didn't want any beads or shimmer or glitter and she brought me like 5 dresses that were only that. I looked like a cupcake and I seriously wasn't feeling her breath! Plus there was a bride next to us trying on some creepy looking dresses that were circa 1984. It was an eventful day. But I am so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.... NO SCHOOL! Thank you Presidents of the United States of America!

Bonnaroo Bound

I am so excited for Bonnaroo. This year the line-up looks so good. My boyfriend and I are going and he is totally stoked to see his favorite band, Metallica. I know he will have a blast. I am pumped about Talib Kweli and OAR myself.
This is our firts time at Bonnaroo and I am taking all the advice I can get. I got a really cool checklist offline for what to bring to Bonnaroo and some great advice on a tent and tarp to bring.
I hope that some of my other friends are able to go with us.
I have a countdown set up and everything!
Bonnaroo is going to be awesome!

What would happen if the creeper got creeped?

Last night was one crazy night! All of my housemates took my good friend Stephen out for his 21st birthday... needless to say it was a crazy night. We started by visiting our friend Andrew at Bahama Breeze and having dinner there. Then we went to a bar called Mulaney's. Stephen proceeded to have his special "birthday drinks" and dancing with old women to irish diddies. It was so amazing to see. After the bar we went to a club called Priviledge. This was such an awkward experience. First, there were so many older people there that I felt as if my Mom would walk in at any moment. Second, a couple was on a couch in a very compromising position. Lastly, there were more creepers there than I have ever seen i9n my whole life! Definition: Creeper (n.) one who acts in a creepy manner i.e. comes to the club/bar alone, walks around the club/bar staring at girls in a suggestive way, dances behind them while inching forward to grab their butts, etc. This is absolutely unacceptable to my friends and I so Lindsay decided to do something about it. She decided to creep the creeper! She started dancing on him and made him feel so uncomfortable that he walked away from our group! Imagine my supreeeze when I didn't have to constantly stare behind me to make no weird men dancing on my backside! Last night was one of those impectable nights that none of us will forget!

Student Teaching

I can't believe how fast time flies when you teach. I am currently teaching at Wells Elementary in a Pre-School class. I have never been so exhausted after a day at work. It is unbelieveable how these kids can wear me out!
It is so rewarding to be able to manage a child's behavior by positive reinforcement. The kids are working hard to start printing their names. My cooperating teacher uses Magna-Doodles and sheet of paper with each child's name on it. They place the paper with their name on it on the Magna-Doodle and trace the letters, then they take the paper away to reveal their name imprinted on the toy. They are amazed with this and love tracing their friends names as well.
Student Teaching has put a bit of stress on my life but I wouldn't change it for the world. My relationships are stronger because my friends really take into consideration how busy I am. I finally get to do what I have always wanted to do. I get to be with such wonderful role models and working with such wonderful kids.
God Bless and Stay Positive!

First Drafts

I woke up late today. I went into work and realized that I wasn't scheduled until 4 o'clock p.m. I started to think about the relationship my situation has to the movie "Sliding Doors" with Gwenyth Paltrow. What if I had just slept in instead of thinking that I had to work?

Enough of the boring thoughts. I am almost done with this wonderful break of mine and it occured to me that I am going to have a very busy schedule this upcoming semester. With student teaching from 8-3 everyday, night classes on Tuesday and Thursday, and work 16 hours on the weekend... I am going to be exhausted! But I will be prepared for teaching in the Fall of 2008. Wow! It is already 2008. I can't wait to see what this year has in store for me. I will finally be in the classroom which I had missed so much last semester. I feel so blessed right now with my family, job, friends, and the love of my life, I don't know how it could get any better!

One of my hopes for this year is that we elect a president who will lead our country to protect human life. Another is that we use our energy wisely, that we stay environmentally conscious, and love one another with our whole being, in the way God has made us to. Cheers!
